Anna Marie Apicella
of
Deposit
It
is with deep sadness that we announce the passing
of Anna Marie (Gabriele) Apicella on July 2, 2025, at the age of 84 years.
She
is lovingly remembered by her children: Theresa
(Angelo) Ragosta and Michele Apicella-Luning; and by her sister: Geraldine
Campo. Anna Marie will also be fondly remembered as Nan, by her grandchildren:
Amanda (Joshua) Apicella-Springstead, JD Peralta, Anthony Peralta, John
(Patricia) Luning, Gerard (Nathaly) Luning, Brandon (Christal) Luning, Timothy
(Chiara) Penso, Vincent Apicella and Robert (Mahogany) Ragosta; and her 11
great-grandchildren.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Alfonse
(Funzie) Apicella; her son, Vincent Apicella, and her mother Margaret
(Ianniello) Gabriele.
Anna
Marie grew up in the Bronx and lived in Deposit
for over 30 years. She found her greatest joy in the simple but meaningful
parts of life—family, friends, and cooking delicious meals from the heart. Her
kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked food and
the sound of laughter. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, no
matter the circumstances. Her home was a haven—where anyone could come with
their problems and always find a listening ear, a warm plate, and a sense of peace.
She also loved tending her garden and feeding the birds, finding quiet
happiness in nature’s small moments.
A
Mass of Catholic Burial in memory of Anna Marie was
held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church,
Deposit. Interment followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery also in Deposit. The family

sweet nature will be remembered by all who loved her.

Stephen Vincent Gifford |

|
Stephen Vincent Gifford |
Stephen Vincent Gifford
of
California
Stephen
Vincent Gifford passed away June 11, 2025 at
John Muir Medical Center in Concord, California. He was born on February 14,
1954, forever
guaranteeing family Valentine’s Day celebrations in his honor. Steve was
a son, a brother, a husband,
classmate and friend.
Whether
it was 4-H and the fair, high school sports,
college, or as a business partner, Steve worked hard and did it well. His work
ethic began on the farm—by 6 AM he
was doing chores, then scurrying off for school, then on to homework,
practices, or games. He always seemed to
set the bar high, whether it was as Delaware County herdsman at the NYS Fair, a
standout Lumberjack athlete, prom king, or Salutatorian of the Class of ’72.
After
high school, Steve graduated from Clarkson
University as a civil engineer. Away he went to gain experience in Saudi
Arabia, Minnesota, and Arizona until he finally landed in California. That is
where he settled down and became a husband, step-father, a San Francisco Giants
fan, and co-owner of MBI. (Midstate
Barrier, Inc.) He helped take the
company, and grow it, make it a better
place to work, and earn it a stellar reputation. Even after “retirement”
Steve continued to
work part time, right up until the week before his passing.
Two
and a half years ago, Steve was given a dire
diagnosis of aggressive, Stage IV prostate cancer. He, with wife Pam at his
side every step of
the way, fought it, persevered through treatments and side-effects, tried his
best to beat it, but lost the battle despite it all. Take note cancer: you did
not take him
completely from us! Our indelible
memories of Steve and his goofy, loving and generous ways will live forever in
our hearts.
Steve
is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam, of
Concord, CA; his step-daughter Sarah (Brian) Ankerman of Bonsall, CA and his
precious and most loved granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth. Back east, he leaves
his mother, Audrey
(Bill) Eberhardt and sister Denise (Rick) Smith. Steve, (a.k.a. Uncle Buck)
was adored and
loved by his nieces and nephews, Casey, Toby, Trevor, Jesse and Jessica and all
of their children. He had special
relationships with his aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceasing him were his
father, Richard W
Gifford, and brother Gary (Spook) Gifford.
We
look forward to honoring Steve from coast to coast
with services and gatherings of family and friends. Come on July 12 to the Hale
Eddy Community Church Hall at 123 Hale Eddy Rd. Hancock, NY. Doors open at noon
and a short service will
begin at 1PM. You are welcome to join us for a luncheon, fellowship and
reminiscing following the service. In the meantime, please tip your favorite
waitstaff as generously as you can as Steve did on so many occasions. Formal
donations in his memory may be made to Stephen Gifford DEEP Scholarship (PO Box
22, Deposit, NY 13754) to benefit students from his hometown and Alma Mater,
“DCS so fair.”
Stephen
Gifford—a man greatly loved, deeply missed,
always treasured.

of
Windsor
Robert
M. Jenson, Sr., 72, of Windsor, NY, passed away
on February 13, 2025.
It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of Robert “Bob” Jenson, Sr. He was born in Hancock, NY, in 1952 to Percy and
Shirley (née Gorr) Jenson.
Known
as “Bob the Barber” in the Windsor, NY,
community, he set up his shop in 1994. After graduating from Hancock High
School, he worked various jobs, from digging graves by hand in Hancock Cemetery
to working at Endicott Johnson and Daniels Paint Store. After moving to
Deposit, NY, in 1977, he took a job at Celotex, and after the plant’s closure,
he transitioned into car sales. He sold cars for Buteau’s and Gerow’s in
Deposit, NY, supplying most of the families in town with a vehicle.
Throughout
every job he held, he always dreamed of
opening his own barber shop. In 1993, he left the sales world, attended barber
school, and then set up shop in Windsor. He retired in 2019 after 25 years of
endless haircuts and countless stories. He never had a phone in the shop, never
scheduled appointments, and yet never had an empty chair. He remembered
everyone’s name, the stories of their lives, their children’s names,
anniversaries, birthdays, and important events, making the time in the chair pass
quickly with conversation. Until his final days, he reminisced about events in
his friends’ lives, remembering names and important dates.
